Landau Zoo is a major leisure and recreation attraction, since it is only a 5 minute foot walk from the city center of Landau and situated next to a historic French fort. The zoo is a very special attraction in the Palatinate: 550 animals and more than 120 mainly exotic species can be seen here.
Besides the various animals in near-natural enclosures our zoo offers on a 4 hectare large area a great variety of botanically interesting trees, shrubs and other plants that make the area look like a romantic garden.
Among the special attractions for children are our pet zoo, a nice playground and numerous extra events. Zoo school Landau organizes birthday parties for children that will become an unforgettable event for our youngest visitors.
After or during a long exciting walk through the zoo you will find many places where you can rest and relax. If you are hungry our kiosk offeres you refreshments, hot meals and other little snacks.
Landau Zoo, which was founded in 1904 as a scientific institution in the South of Rhineland-Palatinate, attracts over 200,000 local, national and international visitors each year.
In a ranking by GREENPEACE-Magazine of April 2004 Landau Zoo was among the 20 best and most dedicated zoos in Germany, Austria and Switzerland!
